Parsons Senior Thesis Collection
PARSONS
My Parsons senior thesis collection was the reflection
of being raised in France by American parents.
Both insider and outsider, I spoke a different language at home and at school – constantly shifting between worlds,
soaking up and meeting diverse cultural expectations.
It took years to appreciate how a multicultural identity and adaptive personality is advantageous.
Wanting my accessory designs to encompass similar flexibility and versatility, I created an adaptive collection
that allows the wearer to swap elements in and out over time.
The key feature of the collection was original hardware that I 3D-printed and cast in metal. The sleek mechanism allows one to easily change details on handbags, shoe straps, hat bands etc.
My intention was to encourage consumers to invest in high-end, long-lasting pieces that can evolve over time. Accessories you can dress up or down, which allow you to freshen up a look to suit your mood or keep up with trends.
The project won competitions awarding scholarships and
sponsorship by both SAGA Furs and Coach x Carlos Falchi NY.
SAGA Furs supplied me with luxury fur overstock and the Carlos Falchi
NY atelier guided me in the construction of the handbag collection.
